The Story Behind the Sale Card

The Festival of All Saint’s Day (or All Hallows) has been a very interesting holiday to plan a sale around. Most people don’t think of it as a typical shopping holiday, but if you’re a fan of Halloween (All Hallows Eve) or a theatre company it’s the day when you rush out to buy supplies on clearance. The boutique wanted an All Saints Shopping Day, a sale for saints and mere mortals alike. Interesting idea, but what do you put on the card? The boutique sale cards of the past have always been interesting, often funny, and on one or two occasions a little surreal. But saints…can you make saints funny? Is it ok? Can you put humor into religion? How about putting religion into humor? It’s a very tricky thing. So we did several card ideas and keep voting back and forth, settling down on three. The first one we made became the one we used. However, we wondered, what might you choose. Did we go too far? Not far enough? Here’s a chance for you to let us know what you think.

Bless you,
St. Eric
