I have never thought of Japan as a land of hi-fi technology. I knew it for years as the land of hokku and tanka, Basyo and Runoske, mysterious temples... and a rock garden. I had a big poster of the world famous rock garden at Ryoan-ji, a Zen temple in Kyoto, on my wall in my Kiev apartment. I've read a description of it in various books...

The "garden of nothingness" challenged my imagination from afar... Since the 16th century, when it was laid out it has puzzled and fascinated, surprised and absorbed its visitors... The rocks are arranged in a certain pattern for ages, but its probably not the only way... I've never made it to Japan to see the mysterious garden of my dreams.

It came to me in a small package through the mail. My own garden, with a tiny rake, traditional 6 stones, and sand. Now I can arrange it my way, challenging ancient tradition, and never failing, because there's no right way. There's your way, different every time..
