Natasha's Silverware Set

Demitasse Spoons |
We eat out a lot. When we travel, one of our agendas has
always been to find the most unusual eateries. This search has taken us to many
unusual places, from mom and pop diners in the hills of Kentucky to the plush
and gaudy of New York and Toronto. One of our main interests in such places is
the silverware ....I want it to feel good, heavy and balanced in my hands...
When the time came to choose the silverware for
our restaurant, once again we were bombarded with a plethora of styles that
were over designed...modern looked too modern, antique looked overly antiqued.
We wanted my silverware to say...well, very little...to be very quiet. But
at the same time it had to complement the Moroccan lanterns, African statues,
and the theatre look of our restaurant. We ultimately found what is best
described as "lightly hip monastic," or perhaps "deluxe prison." If there
was a prison for kings...this is what they would eat with. We had such a hard
time finding this simple silverware we thought you might be looking for it too.
