Touch is integral to creating a mood of intimacy and romance. Massage can
help relax tense muscles and warm the skin, opening your awareness so you can
connect more deeply with your partner.

Simple massage techniques for intimacy include:
- Massaging the feet. Work on one foot at a time. Rub a small amount of
oil over the sole and heel. Holding the foot with one hand, use the other to
gently squeeze and rub the arch, heel, toes, and the ball of the foot. Massage
the top of the foot using the thumbs, rotating in small circles around the
ankles and making long strokes with the thumbs between the long bones on the top
of the foot, all the way to the toes.
- Massaging the back. Pour massage oil into the palm of one hand, and
rub your hands lightly together to distribute it evenly between them. Place your
hands palm-down on either side of the spine at the small of the back, and push
upwards to the shoulders, sliding outward over the shoulder blades and back down
the sides to come to rest where you started at the small of the back. Check with
the recipient to see if more or less pressure is desired. Repeat several times.
This stroke can be made into a continuous circular motion, which is soothing,
and which also raises Kundalini energy (primal life-force energy) up the spine.
- Double Massage. Both partners pour a little oil into their hands.
Sitting Indian style, facing each other, put your arms around each other so that
one person’s palms go over the other’s shoulders; and the other person’s palms
go around the other to rest on the small of the back. Both should rub with
small, gentle, circular motions for a few minutes, then switch, so that both
partners receive massage on both the upper and lower back.
