The Mah Jong craze

The Mah Jong craze of the twenties is one you may not have heard about. Starting in San Francisco by a Standard Oil fellow named Joseph Babcock it spread across America reaching its peak in 1923 with sales over 1.5 Million. Mah Jong is played by four players designated by East, South, West, and North and domino like tiles. It is similar to the card game of Rummy. Mah Jong dates back to Confucius around 500 BC. and in fact may be named after the venerable Chinese philosopher. Confucius' full name was Kong-Fu-Tze. The thought of millions of Americans in the twenties obsessing on Confucius is actually reassuring since once again we're approaching those yet to be named _______twenties.
