Russian Children's Books in English
Have you ever heard of six year olds being familiar with Tolstoy and
Chekov? Sounds like a miracle, doesn't it? But most Russian children have read
these authors because they also wrote wonderful children's books. These classics
have previously been available only in Russia. Printed in Moscow and carefully
translated into English by native speakers, they feature the best nursery rhymes,
folk tales, and classics written especially for children. An important part of
their charm are the illustrations. They are colorful, very unusual, and not a bit
old-fashioned, though some have been in print for dozens of years. Many of the
books are identical to the ones I had as a child. We've organized them in
sets. |
